Yeo Valley is a family-owned farming and dairy processing business. From the dairy farm in Blagdon near Bristol, its founders, Roger and Mary Mead started to make conventional yogurt in 1974. The first organic yogurt was produced twenty years later and today Yeo Valley Organic has become the best-known organic brand in Britain. But Yeo Valley consists of much more than the organic brand: Holt Farms, still run by Mary Mead, provides milk to the Lag Farm conventional yogurt dairy whilst the Cannington organic dairy, home of Yeo Valley Organic, continues its enviable growth record. The Newton Abbot ice cream dairy in Devon produces luxury ice cream, sorbets and frozen yogurt whilst the supply chain operations at Isleport and Axbridge manage the logistical challenge of servicing the need of the dairies and Yeo Valley’s many customers. Each operation has impressive strengths and integrity which have contributed to considerable growth over the years; the result is a much larger business, stronger financially but remaining true to its independent ideals.
