A Boost for Brain Injured Children

The funds of BIBIC, the Bridgwater based children’s charity that provides help for brain injured children are £26,500 better off after Yeo Valley Organic sponsored a money-raising spring ball at nearby Taunton.

BIBIC – the British Institute for Brain Injured Children – is one of a select number of charities supported by the brand and explained the company’s communications director, Graham Keating:

We believe it does outstanding work, helping youngsters and their parents to cope with the problems caused by neurological and genetic conditions which create learning and other disabilities”.

It is the second year that we have been involved with them and we were so pleased with the success of this year’s spring ball that we have already agreed to sponsor another in 2007. The aim then will be to beat the £26,500 raised this year.”

Yeo Valley’s support for the charity doesn’t end with the ball; it also makes weekly deliveries of its organic products to the BIBIC centre at Knowle Hall, which is not far from the company’s Cannington dairy.

It is used there as part of the nutritionally balanced, additive-free diet which is an aspect of the treatment to improve the behaviour patterns of children with learning disabilities.

Added Jill Taylor, BIBIC’s director of fundraising: “The ball is a major event for us, so having Yeo Valley’s commitment to cover the venue and catering costs means that all of the money raised can go directly to our funds".

This is vital as we are a non-government funded organization, which depends on charitable donations to finance our work.

The money raised will help the children who come to us and their families by supplying bursaries to those on a low income or who are in receipt of benefits".

"No child is ever turned away for financial reasons.”

The photo above shows Graham Keating and Ben Cull presenting a cheque for £10,700 to Jill Taylor; Bibic's Director of Fundraising; for the total of Yeo Valley's sponsorship, plus the money that two tables of Yeo Valley representatives and their guests (including several of our suppliers) donated on the night of the ball.
